8/31/2023 0 Comments Freespace 2 fighters![]() Tosn of fun.I don't like the Horus interceptor though. Because it has 4 gunports under one system, you have an HL-7 gatling cannon. Load up a Vasudan Thoth with the Vasudan HL-7s and go to town. Quote:Originally posted by ambush_bug:Ahhh, FS2! My _only_ complaint with the game was that they didn't include my beloved Valkyrie. The Morningstar does have an application in multiplayer in the hands of a skilled pilot, however. Unfortunately, except in very specific circumstances, it won't do jack because it does little shield damage - you need something like an Ares with six gunports, but only two systems, so you put the Morningstar in the 2 gun slot and something like Kaysers in the 4 gun slot.I used the predecessor to the Morningstar, the Flail, in Freespace 1 about twice, ever and never used the Morningstar in FS2's campaign. The Artemis DH is also different from the regular Artemis better turning and a different paint job, as well.MadMac: But the "Last Days of the VBB" were pure, concentrated comedy funny, you have to admit that. The morningstar is very long range, and designed to whack a target off course. Ironically, I felt that he was probably our best bet.ĬhrisG: As Peldor said, no, the Ares and Erinyes are different. I figured that Bosche was probably going to be pivotal in whatever sequel they would have planned out. And they can kill stars.Fantastic villains. The ship we thought was the Shivans' flagship, larger than the Colossus, was only one of many. The greatest ship ever built by the Vasudans and the Terrans, the Colossus, was annihilated overnight. The Shivans appear to be completely unstoppable. Big loose end.In addition, the ending left me pretty breathless. Whatever secrets and technology he had left with him. My impression from the missions undertaken to track him down and figure out what kind of technology he was working on along with the cinematics led me to believe that he found a way to communicate to the Shivans and they rescued him from the Alliance pursuit after he managed to contact them.somehow. I never figured out if it was voluntary or not. It's got six guns, decent payload (11/13 Trebuchets, I believe) and is armored like your average battleship.(The first SOC set gave you the Artemis DH, which was quite nice in the holding the line mission where you got to see the Mjolnirs in action - View image here: -) has more or less what I just said, but hey. Order your wingmen to guard it, then go apeshit crazy on everyone (the fact that I'm good with Tempests makes this easy, so I reccomend you get the skills.)You get the Ares fighter for the last several missions because of it, and believe me.the Ares is what the Herc-II should have been, so give it a shot. Head there, kill bad guys, repeat process. When you get to the last nav point, you'll be contacted by the transport. From there you should be able to see a flashing dot outlining your next nav. (As was the other SOC set)Spoilers, duh.Go to the first nav, kill bad guys, whatever. ![]() Uh, ok.Here's how to beat that nebula mission and believe me, the payoff is worth it. I never figured out if it was voluntary or not.JoS Nothing mentioned about him, his mission, or anything. He somehow went with the aliens. Like, you've been following him the whole time and then. is that it? what happens next? do the Shivans find a way to terrorize the Vasudans and Terrans some more, do they get back to Earth, what happens to Admiral Bosche? dang it!Yeah, no kidding, the Admiral Bosche thing is the totally unresolved plot line that bothered me. fought a force feedback joystick for 12 hrs)and in the *SPOILER* final mission I was fighting to save the transports fleeing the Capella system, when the star goes supernova.
